Hazardous Waste Rules
In order to work at ESI, you must have recieved hazardous waste training from Environment, Health & Safety.
Summary:
- No chemical should be put in the trash or down the drain. Instead they should be accumulated in labeled containers and sent to EHS when full. EHS will determine whether the waste is hazardous or not and dispose of it accordingly.
- Every container with waste in it must be officially labeled (labels are available from EHS).
- Keep incompatible wastes seperate. Flammable chemicals should not be stored with toxic chemicals, etc.
- When a waste container is full, you must mark the label with the fill date and send in an order on the same day to have EHS pick it up and dispose of it.
